Foundation of my craft

Experience & Education

My software engineering portfolio and expertise is built on the intersection of academic rigor and real-world execution. With a formal background in Computer Science and a specialized focus on UX Engineering, I have spent the last several years evolving from a developer who “writes code” to a User focused cross platform software egineer who builds usable systems.

Academic Foundation & Future Vision

My approach to engineering is grounded in structured problem-solving and a commitment to continuous specialization. From core computer science principles to the future of interconnected physical systems, my educational path is designed to build technology that lasts.

Bachelor of science in computer Science

Africa Nazarene University | 2025

This degree provided the technical backbone of my career. I specialized in software architecture, algorithmic logic, and database management. My final years were defined by a shift toward Human-Computer Interaction, where I began merging backend reliability with frontend empathy to build complete, user-centric systems.

Future Specialization: Masters in Internet of Things (IoT)

Vision: Bridging Software & Physical Systems

My next strategic milestone is to merge high-level software engineering with embedded systems and hardware. By specializing in IoT, I aim to deliver future-proof solutions, integrating smart hardware into Agritech, Fintech, and Medtech to solve the unique infrastructure challenges within the Kenyan ecosystem.

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE)

Kagumo High School | 2017

A foundation built on analytical thinking and disciplined inquiry. My time at Kagumo High School sharpened the mathematical and scientific mindset required to navigate complex technical environments, fostering the discipline I now apply to every architectural and technical decision.

Specialized Expertise

To bridge the gap between technical engineering and human-centric design, I have pursued specialized training that formalizes my approach to product usability. This certification serves as the professional framework for my work as a UX Engineer.

Google Professional UX Design Certification

Issued February 2026

The strategic bridge between my Computer Science foundation and applied user-centric solutions.

This rigorous, 7-course program provided the industry-standard methodology I use to ensure every line of code serves a validated user need. It moved my practice from making things look good to designing for measurable success.

Core Competencies Mastered:

  • Empathetic Research: Conducting user interviews and persona development to uncover real-world pain points.
  • Architectural Prototyping: Moving from low-fidelity wireframes to high-fidelity, interactive prototypes in Figma.
  • Usability Testing: Implementing iterative design cycles based on evidence and user feedback.
  • Design Systems: Building scalable, accessible UI patterns that remain consistent across complex applications.

Professional Trajectory

My career is a journey of translating academic theory into production-ready software. From learning the requirements of collaborative engineering in an agency setting to leading end-to-end projects for local businesses, I focus on building tools that solve real problems.

Founder & Sofware Engineer

Awahnex Technologies

August 2025 – Present

I founded Awahnex to solve a specific problem: Kenyan SMEs often struggle with digital adoption due to technical complexity and high costs. I design and engineer Digital Growth Systems that handle the tech so business owners can focus on their operations.

Core Impact & Strategy

  • System-First Development: Awahnex doesn’t just build websites; we deploy integrated systems including Sales Expansion, Customer Retention, and Business Automation tools tailored for the Kenyan market.
  • Market-Specific Integration: We prioritize local usability by engineering deep integrations with M-Pesa and WhatsApp, ensuring businesses can transact and communicate where their customers already are which is crucial for the Kenyan business ecosystem.
  • Product Vision & Roadmap: I lead the end-to-end product lifecycle, from brand identity and UI/UX design to full-stack engineering and implementation, bridging the gap between business goals and technical execution.
  • Scalable Architecture: While focusing on immediate SME needs, I am architecting the next phase of Awahnex: moving toward AI-driven automation and IoT solutions to help African businesses compete globally.

Frontend Development Intern

Cigona Technologies

August 2024

This was my transition from a student environment to a professional engineering team. I learned how to contribute to a shared codebase and move beyond solo projects into a collaborative production cycle.

Learning & Contributions

  • Team Workflow: I adapted to working in an Agile environment, participating in shareholders stand-ups via Microsoft Teams to align on tasks and project progress.
  • Production Stack: I moved from vanilla engineering stacks to building functional, production ready and reusable components using industry standard production stack including TypeScript and Mantine UI, ensuring clients designs from Figma were accurately implemented.
  • State Management: I gained hands-on experience managing complex UI behaviors using Zustand and handling user data through React Hook Form.
  • Iteration & Feedback: I learned to refine my code based on the lead frontend engineer and stakeholder feedback, focusing on making components more maintainable and aligned with business needs.

Let’s Build the Next Chapter Together

Whether you need a dedicated UX Engineer to add value to your team, a Full-Stack Developer for a complex project, or a Strategic Partner to launch your startup’s digital presence, I am ready to contribute.
