My journey began in Computer Science, mastering the logic that makes systems run. However, it was a deep dive into Human-Computer Interaction that redefined my mission: software isn’t just about making things work, it’s about the experience it enables for the person using it.

Today, I am a Full-Stack UX Engineer and the founder of Awahnex Technologies. I bridge the gap between complex backend architecture and intuitive user interfaces to deliver working solutions and collaborate with Kenyan businesses. I don’t just write code; I build digital products that are structured to scale, designed to be used, and built to endure.

I didn’t start at the interface, I started at the core. My background in Computer Science provided the technical rigor, but my focus evolved as I realized that the most powerful systems are those that prioritize the human at the other end of the screen.

Engineering Foundations

Immersed in the world of Computer Science, I built my foundation in algorithms, data structures, and backend logic. This era was about mastering the “how”, ensuring systems were robust, efficient, and technically sound.

2023
The UX Pivot

The Focus: Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).
A deep dive into HCI transformed my approach. I moved beyond making it work to making it usable. I began studying the psychology of user behavior, realizing that empathy is a functional requirement for successful software.

2024
Bridging the Gap

The Focus: UX Engineering & Certification.
I spent this year integrating Figma and design systems into my development workflow, effectively bridging the gap between high-fidelity prototyping and full-stack implementation.

2025 – Present

Launching Awahnex Technologies, I now apply a Product-First mindset to every build. My work today combines intelligent system architecture, including AI integrations (where applicable) with a relentless focus on solving real-world business challenges for the Kenyan ecosystem.

The goal: Building the right thing. I don’t start with code; I start with context. I analyze business objectives and user pain points to ensure the technical roadmap solves the right problems. This phase eliminates guesswork and ensures every feature serves a measurable purpose.

The goal: Building it for people. Using the insights from discovery, I architect intuitive interfaces and scalable design systems. My focus is on clarity, accessibility, and high-fidelity prototyping in Figma, ensuring the look and feel is perfected and validated before the heavy engineering begins.

The goal: Building it to last. This is where vision becomes reality. I implement the product using a modern, type-safe stack (Next.js, React Native, NestJS). Whether it’s integrating custom AI workflows or real-time data systems, I prioritize clean, maintainable code that allows your business to scale without technical debt.

I believe that the best engineers are those who stay connected to their creative roots. When I’m not architecting systems or refining user flows, I’m exploring different mediums of expression. These outlets aren’t just hobbies; they are how I practice empathy, sharpen my visual eye, and reset my mental focus.

Storytelling & Editorial Design

I believe everyone has a story worth telling. Beyond code, I manage Miss Cheekronicles, a curated editorial space where I explore conceptual/creative writing and provide a platform for diverse voices to publish creative articles. It’s my laboratory for storytelling and human connection.

Strategic Brainstorming & Flow

Music is one of my primary tools for breaking the mental norm. I use it as creative fuel during the deep brainstorming phases of a project helping me step away from the rigid logic of code to explore more inventive, high-level solutions for long hours. Once the vision is clear, I transition into the focused, execution that builds the final product.

Visual Sketching & Ideation

Before I ever touch Figma, I often start with a pen. Sketching and visual experimentation allow me to explore ideas without the constraints of a grid, helping me bring more inventive and out-of-the-box thinking to my digital products.
